Instructors: Jose Morocho (9-1), Yalila Murillo (9-2)
Objectives:
The Phase III Confirmation instruction is designed for candidates seeking the Sacrament of Confirmation to come into full communion with the Catholic faith as each one learns the fundamental aspects of living a Christian life and putting them into real-life practice.
Throughout the year, the candidates will strengthen their faith through reading the textbook, sacred Scripture (The Holy Bible), and daily conversation and real-life connections that will apply what is learned in the classroom to their personal experiences and events young people face, and how to use one’s faith to stand up through obstacles and other life events.
God calls us to a Holy life… This year there will be great emphasis on the lives of the saints, and how we can imitate them to strive toward holiness. This will help candidates choose their Confirmation Saint name for the day of the sacrament.
As practicing Catholics, we form part of a community. Therefore, we must actively participate in the community of St. Francis Parish. As a class (and individually) we will participate in the parish ministries and activities throughout the year as needed. This will include joining the FOCUS Youth Ministry and actively participating and following the Works of Mercy projects planned.
The class instruction will also help aspiring candidates to complete all of the practical requirements to be met prior to the acceptance to the reception of the sacrament in May. This includes but is not limited to:
Attendance to Mass
Completion of Confirmation packet (Saint Essay, Sponsor Verification and supporting letter of Sponsor’s parish, Letter to the Priest)
Completion of the Works of Mercy Projects
Attendance to FOCUS Youth Ministry
Attendance to the Confirmation Retreat (Date: Saturday April 4, 2020 ALL DAY)
Interview with the Priest
